News in Photographs

The news that the Langley Maltings has been devastated by a major fire has been captured in photographs by Barrie Johnson.
On the day of the fire Barrie and John Edmonds were engaged in a combined work party with BW and some heavy machinery to remove heavy rubbish from the Pools at Titford. The following photographs record just some of the damage done, the roof has gone, the future of the rest of the building hangs in the balance.

The fire was still being fought or rather damped down by high level water jets, as the work party pasted the buildings. Much of the roof has been lost but some still remain.

The Work party with BW had been organised for sometime with the society supplying two boats and BW heavy machinery required to lift out just some of the heavy rubbish in the pools and linking canals.
Both groups had in the past been unable to deal with the problem as seperate groups, by coming together and combining our boats on the level and BW machinery the job got done.
Both boats were filled and emptied with heavy objects by machine: a job well done.
