Notes from the Editor

I have had such a super response from a variety of members for inclusion in BP this time. I've even put in an extra page!( well it has to be 4 actually) I am so pleased. Its the small notes about observations out there on the BCN that are particularly interesting, even as Mike Anson says " you may know this already but...." There's a very good chance I might not so do let me know. Email is so handy but a little posted note or phone call are all welcome. I must say there's still something special about hand written through the letterbox!

I'm sorry Ivan Cane of Feckenham College trips fame, was iced in but glad they all made it to the Bridgewater Arms in Bloxwich sounds as if its worth a visit! Sorry to hear this was his last BCN cruise with his group. It's so god to hear of young people & canals in the same sentence. Do you know of any other such groups out there who would like to share their experiences with us?

Martin was pleased with the response from the Collector's Canal Books for Sale. I hope to include more in the next BP.

We've has some issues lately over heritage buildings on the BCN. BW's long standing Heritage Officer, Graham Bailey, has recently retired. His direct replacement will be Simon Railton: simon.railton@britishwaterways.co.uk.
Simon, whose background is landscape design, he will be ably supported by Heritage Advisor, Sally Bailey: sally.bailey@britishwaterways.co.uk
So if you have any concerns don't hesitate to communiciate with either of them.
It's now that the good weather is ahead that you can get out & about & explore so if you still haven't got an Explorer Plaque there are details on page 6. (See Junctions of BCN by Phil Clayton in this section for details and list of junctions etc)
